The Hangar: A cozy retreat

A small outdoor retreat with a green roof, designed around storytelling treasures collected over the years.

Cristina is a wonderful person, talented, and has an extraordinary vision! Everything is beautifully arranged in a fairytale-like setting, the result is WOW, and we're truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her.

In this project, our goal was to create a seamless connection between the interior and exterior, crafting a space with an atmosphere straight out of a fairytale, making the owners feel comfortable and as though they were on holiday.

In terms of functionality, the couple envisioned a cozy, multi-functional space that could be enjoyed year-round. Their needs included a kitchen, a spacious dining area, a small bar, and a comfortable sitting area. A must-have feature was the stove, not only to provide warmth but also to bake treats, adding a homely touch to the environment.

The main inspiration came from an emotional collection of cherished items: souvenirs from travels, childhood memories, and gifts from loved ones, which they wanted integrated into the design. These items formed the core around which the entire concept was built – a space that reflects and honors their story.

One of the most exciting discoveries was their passion for DIY projects. Many of the decorative elements were crafted by them, inspired by ideas and photos I provided. What initially seemed like complex tasks turned into beautiful expressions of their creativity and craftsmanship. For example, one of these items is the wall sconce made from a carefully chosen branch, textile cable, and a retro bulb—an original DIY creation that adds a unique charm to the space.

A particularly special feature of this project is the green roof, where the lady of the house lovingly planted a variety of flowers. This detail adds freshness, balance, and a natural connection to the outdoors, completing the warm and idyllic atmosphere of the place.

Lastly, given the owner’s deep passion for aviation, we decided to name the new space “The B747 Hangar” in honor of his favorite plane, the “Queen of the Sky.” This personal touch not only celebrated his love for aviation but also added a unique and meaningful detail to the project, further enhancing its charm.
