We’re thrilled with our transformed home! Cristina took a dark, cold space and turned it into a vibrant, welcoming environment that truly reflects our energy and style.
I was immediately drawn to the optimism, warmth, and energy of the young homeowners—two professional fitness coaches with a shared passion for travel, sports, and a healthy lifestyle. What fascinated me most was the stark contrast between the house’s initial cold, impersonal atmosphere and the vibrant vision they had for their home.
When they purchased it, the house felt dark, sterile, and uninviting. Yet, they saw beyond its imperfections, appreciating its unique architectural details and envisioning a brighter, more welcoming space. Inspired by their positivity, I set out to infuse their energy, joy, and optimism into the redesign.
Guided by my nature-inspired design philosophy—where nothing goes to waste and everything finds new purpose—I chose to preserve and integrate many of the home’s original features. We refinished the marble flooring on the ground level and completely transformed the ambiance by repainting the dull blue walls in bright, uplifting hues.
To enhance this refreshed backdrop, I introduced both functional and aesthetic elements, such as a multipurpose bookcase that also replaced one of the banisters. A standout feature was the original sofa, which we reupholstered in lively, colorful fabrics, giving it a fresh, dynamic look that perfectly complemented the transformed space and became a true statement piece.
The night area includes a master bedroom, where we preserved the original furniture and introduced bohemian-inspired wallpaper along with playful pops of color to create warmth and coziness. There’s also a small room designed for both their daughter and guests, which we transformed into a smart, inviting space with vibrant bohemian wallpaper, thoughtfully adapted for occasional use.
This project illustrates how thoughtful design, creativity, and the courage to see beyond imperfections can turn a cold, impersonal space into a home that truly reflects its owners’ joy, energy, and unique personalities.
